Rain comes down, gutter biz goes up

Rain comes down, gutter business goes up

TUCSON, AZ (KOLD) – From making the runs to putting them on the house, Daniel Lindberg and Brandon Blosser showed Wednesday afternoon that installing gutters takes measurement, patience, and skill.

"Gutters in general I'd say the biggest challenge is doing them in the rain," Lindberg, an installer for Southern Arizona Rain Gutters, said.

"Probably just the real long runs (are the most challenging). It takes several guys to put up really long runs, the other day we put a 90 feet run so sometimes they get a little tricky," Blosser said.

Throw in the rainy weather for another challenge.

"It's a little tricky but over the years you learn the tricks to keep from puddling up in what you're doing," Blosser said.

"I'm cold," Lindberg admitted.

If there was one benefit to putting up gutters in the rain is that whether they work or not is immediately evident.

"What better way to give the customer a guarantee?" Lindberg said.

Lindberg said that the same thing that makes his job more difficult also increases demand.

"With all the rain it's definitely picked up a little, talk to our office guy and he'll tell you on rainy days the phone is going off the hook, so that's encouraging," Lindberg said.

"I love working here it's a good company, solid group of guys, so, we're all pretty strong in what we do," Blosser said.

They still wouldn't mind staying dry while they do it.

"Hopes for tomorrow?" Lindberg said. "(I) would say it doesn't rain."
