Over Reaching While on the Ladder

Over reaching outside the ladder rails; it’s one safety rule that gets overlooked more than any other while installing. Sure, it may be a little quicker to reach three to four feet out either side of the ladder rail when installing but think about it; one fall will cost you and your company more money than you save in time by reaching out too far. Over reaching makes both you and your ladder unstable.

The recommended reach is no more than 12 inches outside the rails--it's safer to move the ladder than to reach too far. And you should never try to move the ladder when you're standing on it or try to "walk" it into a new position.
