Weekly Safety Tip - 11-24-08 11.24.08
This week we will focus on extension cord safety and using the right extension cord for the job. Another common problem is the grounding prong removed from the male end of the plug. This happens as the installers need to plug into a power source and many older homes do not have three prong outlets. Keeping a three to two prong adapter with every crew to ensure the cord is properly grounded is recommended. This will protect your machinery and equipment. Electric drive motors in gutter machines can fail prematurely because they aren't receiving enough voltage through the extension cord. The recommended practice is to use the shortest electrical extension cords possible to power your gutter machine. This will minimize power loss and excess strain on the drive motor of your machine.
