Ladder Safety Pt. 2

Keeping your ladder feet secure during the winter months is critical to ensure your installers safety while working from a ladder.

Ladder feet work properly when they can dig in and embed on the surface they are on. After the ground is frozen or has snow and ice on it the ladder feet will not secure the ladder from sliding and it is critical to take the proper precautions to reduce your liability and risk.

During the winter months it is important to remove all snow and ice with a shovel and then use ice melt that will not damage the surface your ladder is on before beginning any work.

If you are working on frozen ground either chip out a hole for the foot of your ladder to rest in or use a board no smaller than a 2x4 spiked into the ground to safely secure your ladder feet from sliding.
